Interesting to read.
I've never been on a blood thinner.
But I had a coworker comment on how much salad and leafy greens that I ate. He explained about his blood thinning medicine and said his doctor advised if he had times where he ate a lot more greens the doctor would need to up his dose.
I was so surprised and said to Eric, "I didn't realize there would ever be a situation where leafy, green vegetables might be bad for your health."
Good tips.

I was on Warfarin for a year after having a pulmonary embolism. I remember having to avoid eating dark leafy vegetables. I worried about injuring myself because bleeding could be a huge problem with reduced ability to clot. I was also getting Heparin shots in the stomach for two weeks before being discharged from the hospital. The bruising was really bad, my stomach looked like a rotten banana.

Kerri - that must be why I almost never eat salads ... Seriously, I didn't know that and it's a good thing to know for those of us on blood thinners.

I don't take these but know of others who do. I know they are careful, extra careful even, in not getting cut as they can bleed more.
